Temples & Shrines
On a recent trip to India I visited many samadhs, temples, caves and shrines in the (mainly) central region of Maharastra, especially the Nasik area.
Of particular interest to me was the positioning and design of these places of worship, in what is now (often) the urban landscape as opposed to the rural landscape of times gone by. They seemed to spring up everywhere... indeed anywhere people had made their home / livelihoods.
Here, both Tantra and Sufism point out, union with God is union with the 'Divine Mother or Divine Lover that lives within you as you.'
Perhaps theres something lacking in western urban developments... which continue to become less organic in their evolution and more secular and commercial ?
