When we set out to run a marathon we have one goal in mind. 

To run 42.195km and cross the line. 

With that primary goal (our focus on it, our visualisation of it) we naturally develop other qualities. Strength of mind, focus, resilience to name a few. These skills benefit our running practice but we don’t set out to develop them. They are natural ‘by-products' of learning to run the distance.

Addictionthe condition of being compulsively occupied with or involved in something.

Addiction to thinking could be said to be the mother of all addictions, both literally and figuratively - literally in that it is by far the most common addiction, affecting practically the entire population to some extent or other - and figuratively because it is arguably the root cause of all other addictions.

Beginners Meditation. Where to start ?

If you are new to meditation its important to use your discernment in choosing a practice and a teacher that you feel is likely to hold some benefit for you. 

What makes this difficult is the fact that you must give meditation practice a chance to work and, depending on your level of meditation development, it is hard to be sure that a given practice is or is not working for you in less than 6-12 months.
